From Thursday, June 4th to Thursday, July 9th, we will hold the event "Sumida Bonin Island 2026," where you can experience the charm of the Ogasawara Islands (also known as Bonin Island). With the theme of 'Experiencing Island Strolling,' this event introduces the Ogasawara Islands from various perspectives, allowing visitors to experience the charm of an island located about 1,000 km from central Tokyo.
In the special space, panels will be displayed introducing the unique nature, culture, and lives of the people that the 'Ogasawara Islands,' which have never been connected to the mainland before, have been nurtured over many years. Additionally, visitors can experience the diversity of living creatures through the museum while touring the museum by comparing the local living creatures with those living in SUMIDA AQUARIUM. Furthermore, there will be workshops called "Ogasawara Ikimono Rei" where visitors can experience the island's culture and daily life through the exhibitions, as well as lectures featuring guests connected to Ogasawara. In addition, the Penguin Cafe and Museum Shop will sell menus inspired by Ogasawara and original goods.
